When someone calls the phone will ring through the audio system and mute the music so you can talk. You can also transfer music, and info like that as well. To me it's a feature that is pointless unless you travel much and have to have conversation on the phone while driving. Anyway, bluetooth is just an expandability feature that almost every deck has but no one ever uses it. To me it's a feature that is used for pure advertisement. People hear bluetooth and they get excited and end buying the unit and never actually use it. There's more to it than this but this is my scoop on the whole thing. I hope this helps and good luck!
