Grab yourself a 20 - 40 amp power supply that pushes out 13.5 volts from AC to DC.

http://www.trcelectronics.com/Meanwell/sp-320-12.shtml

Grab one 4 channel amp if you plan to run four speakers. One mono block or two channel amp for sub if you plan to run one.

IE: Crunch amps, Kenwood, Hifonics, Ect.

Grab a dvd or cd player (anything with a rca output) and connect it directly to amp.

A alternative is to use a head unit and skip the extra amp used to power speakers. With that setup you can just power the head unit and wire speakers from there. The downside with this setup is that the speakers arent working at their full capacity.

Hi. I have hooked up a car system on an AC power. But it wasn't able for full power. I just had it running off of a car battery charger. I could have gotten an actual car battery to get the full affect. So I would recommend a battery, a charger and maybe even a lightning cap.
P.S you dont have to use a car receiver. Even a Walkman would work as long as you are using an amp for all the speakers. Just get an RCA-Headphone jack cable or what ever in out connections are there to link.
